| Facebook will launch its digital currency |
Facebook plans to introduce its own cryptocurrency next year. Initially, the digital payment system will be introduced in a few countries.
Facebook will launch its digital currency in 2021 under the name Global Coin.
Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg also met with Bank of England Governor Mark Carney to discuss the introduction of the cryptocurrency, discussing opportunities and concerns about the currency.
In exchange for money, Facebook has also talked to Western Union about making cheap and fast money transactions without a bank account.
Facebook also owns Instagram and Twitter and is running the Global Coin project on all of its platforms for secure account transactions without money.
Butt Gerek Helman, a researcher at the London School of Economics, says the Global Coin Project will be significant in the short history of cryptocurrency.
