Experts from the Department of Fabric and Textile Technology at the University of Agriculture have developed a thread that blends hemp and cotton inside the laboratory using wild hemp, which grows naturally in Pakistan. Since then, the entire process from this thread to the production of genes has been completed in the laboratory, but it is not uncommon for cannabis genes to be manufactured and worn in the world.

Dr. Asad Farooq, chairman of the Department of Fabric and Textile Technology at the Agricultural University Faisalabad, told the BBC that hemp was a multi-billion dollar industry. However, it was necessary to make the cannabis thread used in the manufacture of such genes locally. In this way, a volume supply of cannabis yarn can be created which will reduce its price.

Dr. Asad Farooq, chairman of the Department of Fabric and Textile Technology, told the BBC that the special thing about cannabis genes is that they are sustainable genes. These genes are called sustainable because hemp is considered a more sustainable crop than cotton. That is why the method of making hemp genes is more sustainable. There is a worldwide perception that the textile industry is polluted and polluting. This is because the cotton crop requires large amounts of water and chemical fertilizers. Pesticides are another.

According to Dr. Asad Farooq, hemp is not only a sustainable plant but also has antiseptic properties. Cannabis thread is present inside its bark or stem so it cannot be damaged by insects or insects. And the plant grows naturally with rainwater, meaning it doesn't need much water or fertilizer.

According to Dr. Asad, there is a growing demand in the world for making cloth, especially jeans, using cannabis, which has reached the mills that make denim or jeans in Pakistan. Pakistan's ability to make cheap genes from locally manufactured industrial cannabis could earn Pakistan many times more foreign exchange in the global market.

He said that Pakistan's textile industry has received a large number of orders to meet the global demand for post-Corona textiles. It is against this background that they have adopted this new innovation.
